Parents are taught to safely work with their children in the water as they are
taught skills to prepare them to learn to swim.
Parent participation is required.
Ages 6 months - 4 years.
Level 1: Intro to Water Skills
Participants learn to safely enter and exit water, make progress through the water using arms & legs, float and recover.
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Children perform Level 1 skills, swimming several body lengths without instructor support.
Level 3: Stroke Development
Participants learns the front crawl and elementary backstroke, swimming each 15 yards and are introduced to the scissors & dolphin kicks and treading water.
Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Participants practice front crawl and backstroke and are introduced to side stroke, back crawl, breast stroke, butterfly and turning at the wall.
The Putnam Sharks Swim Club operates from February through October each year, and running three athletic seasons (Spring, Summer and Fall). We are open to any Putnam County children ages 4-18. Practices are primarily held at the Putnam Aquatics Center, located at:

During the Spring and Fall seasons we also utilize the Ravine Gardens State Park for dry lands and endurance running activities.
